| New Dyno results! - Tuesday, July 01, 2008The VR4 went back on the Dyno for another Tune and Dyno, this time with the 50shot of NOS.
Let me set the stage first:
- My original numbers were done on a cold day, practically snowing.
- These numbers were done on a very hot day! (85degrees)
Today we ran a baseline before the new tune and NOS dyno (which i forgot to get a print out of, but here was the main numbers):
Maximum Power: 387.0 @ 18PSI
Maximum Torque: 374.0 @ 18PSI
The heat today hurt the numbers from my original numbers....but....
We then set the bottle warmer for 9500. Engaged the NOS and then let it rip and got this:
Maximum Power: 417.2 @ 5812RPM / 91.1MPH @ 18PSI
Maximum Torque: 440.7 @ 3615 RPM / 57.3MPH @ 18PSI
Between 3200-3600rpm I gained 100ft lbs of torque!
Today was a good day.

| Import Wars and NOS - Sunday, June 29, 2008Import Wars 2008 (New England Dragway ) was awesome. I met up with a bunch of other 3SI members for a full day of fun. I took 2 trophies! One tropy was at Import Wars (2nd Place Best Mitsubishi Show) and the other was at the post-Import Wars show at a local Scion/Toyota dealer, where I took 1st Place Best Mitsubishi Show. The funny part is that the dealership advertised the post show all during Import Wars , so every car that attended Import Wars attended the post-show.
Check the Gallery for more photos.
The NOS kit is also installed and fully working and purging. I have a tune appointment this coming week, so I cant really do anythign except have fun with the purge.
I purge from each side of the windshield

| New Audio setup and Digital Tach w/Shift Light - Saturday, June 07, 2008Confidential.txt
I decided to change the audio setup in the VR4. The main reasons were to reduce the weight of the current Subwoofer box and to make room for a NOS bottle in the trunk, yea NOS is my next project.
The new subwoofer box is made from a member over at 3SI.org (whom doesnt make them anymore). It holds 2 10" subwoofers. I picked up some Boston Aucustics G5's subs (Dual voice). I relocated the PC and one of the Amps.

At the same time, I installed a ProSport Digital Tach with Shift Light (its brite!) because I am sick of staring at the RPM tach while running the 1/4. I've been shifting to early, so this shift light should help me control that. |
| VR4 Forum - Monday, June 02, 2008I added a Forum to MyVR4.net. I get a good amount of emails and such related to the VR4 and work i've done to it. Some fo these questions and conversations I think are public worthy, so I guess use the forum now so everyone can see. I'll be using it to link to stories and such.
Also, if signing the guestbook isnt enough, post a comment in the forum :) |
| The VR4 took another trophy! - Sunday, June 01, 2008I know I need to get my site updated with new numbers, and the new dyno stuff (looking forward to the Pampena tune. I'll get the new numbers and stuff up soon)
Long story short.....at least I'll try to make it short.
Yesterday morning (Saturday 5/31/08) I took apart my throttle body (million pieces it seemed) to replace the shaft seals. Aparently the 3S's TB's always leak with stock seals, causing boost leaks. Mine were leaking a bit, so I replaced them. Took me a couple hours to get most of it done, but didnt have any silicon dielectirc grease for the new seals, so bought some. I got the TB about 75% complete before I gave up for the night, about 11pm.
I got inside the house and was just browsing the web and found a car show in Meriden, CT for 6/1/08 (today). I thought nothing of it cause my TB wasnt done. Gates open at 9am, judging 11am. I woke up around 6am and finished my TB, but didnt mark the TPS sensor so knew I would be playing with it for about an hour. I actually found a mark on the sensor that allowed me to line it back up like before.....started it up,....idled perfectly, ran amazing. It was about 7:15am now and said....."Ahhh to hell with it". Grabbed some cleaning supplies and such and made the 2 hour and 15 minute drive to Meriden, CT for the car show.
I didnt bring my camera, well, cause I just jumped in and went. I did get some pictures with my phone camera, check them out in the gallery. They awarded trophies for the Top 50 cars. I am glad the VR4 is getting some respect and attention after all the work I've been doing to it.
Decent amount of imports. Club CTSubie was there in large numbers. Great cars, and great people, had a blast talking to some of them. A bunch of domestic stuff also, Stangs were the most.

| Another Track video - Sunday, May 25, 2008Went to New England Dragway this past Saturday. I didn't really run my car much , a couple passes. I wanted to get a feel for how the clutch is doing, seems to be doing great.

| History of my VR4 - Saturday, May 24, 2008The Story of Your Car: (Based on VIN)
Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is one of 315 that received VIN numbers. Based on the order of the serial numbers, your car was the 36th out of the 315 that were made that year.
There is 2 car matching your year and model with a serial number under 100. The cars with the last 6 digits ending less than 100 are most likely kept in a mueseum or used for the final crash/road testing, but CarFax information is generally not available for them. Since this car will probably never be sold or registered, your car is more accurately the 35th out of the 314 available. For more information on this, check out The Serial Number Problem
Your car was built in the 2nd week of June 1995. Of the 6096 vehicles made at the Nayoga plant, your car was the 1022nd vehicle to be created that year.
There are 52 other cars that were made with both the same interior and exterior color. There are 90 cars with the same exterior color and 252 cars with the same interior color.
Note: The production order is assigned based on the order of the serial number.

| Engine Bay Polishing - Friday, May 02, 2008One thing I got out of HIN is that you dont need a car with flashing lights and a paint job that will make you go blind....rather just keep it simple and CLEAN. My car is just that, simple and clean, except the engine bay....I decided to take on the task of polishing every possible piece that I can in the engine bay. If I can buy it and trade mine (core charge) I will
Current Polishing items:
- Front Valve Cover
- Spark Plug Cover
- Intake Plenum (not done yet)
My FVC and SPC were already polished, but havent been cleaned in like 7 years. I bought all the gear to do the work and with a bench grinder, some white rouge here is how they came out so far:

| WPI Car Show - Sunday, April 20, 2008Just got back from the WPI Car Show in Worcester, MA. I'm happy to say that I won my first real (physical) award, "Best of Show: Imports".
Lots of great cars, awesome imports and domestics as well. I tried for loudest exhaust, but thats hard to compete against v8 muscle cars. I came in at 103db, I have video of this as well, to be posted soon.

| 3SI.org - APRIL Ride of the Month (ROTM) - Thursday, April 17, 2008 |
| First time to the track, good and bad news - Monday, April 14, 2008I took the VR4 to New England Dragway this past Saturday. I was very impressed with it for the first time. I made great numbers, considering my launch needs improvement.
Bad news first: The clutch appears to have burnt out on its last pull. You know, the horrible smell, the slipping....but its weird, this is a new RPS street max, and I am pushing only 380flbs....The car drives perfectly still, but I dont dare launch it at the dragway until I replace it
Good News: Out of about 10 pulls, all were in the low 12's (all under 12.4) here is my best
R/T .554
60' 1.760
330 5.064
1/8 7.848
MPH 88.98
1000 10.200
1/4 12.211
MPH 115.40
The VR4 did trap 119.45 on a 12.2 run
So, time to replace the clutch. I also have suspension ready to go in....then back to the track, 11's here I come

| Success! - Saturday, March 29, 2008I broke 400awhp today on the Mustang Dyno @ ESP in Sterling, MA, 401awhp to be exact. We also ran a 12.1 in the 1/4 mile and that was hitting the rev. limiter....we totally could have seen 11's
During the first 1/4 mile pull we broke one of the support straps
Check out the Videos Page |
| Some new stuff - Wednesday, March 26, 2008Rotors and Pads
I finally installed my StopTech Rotors and Hawk pads. The cars stops on a dime now and looks great! I took some pictures of the Rotors/Pads and Install (check the Gallery)
HIN
I registered the VR4 for HIN2008 (Hot Import Nights) in Boston, MA. The date of HIN is April 26th, 2008 4pm-midnight. Be sure to stop by and say hello!
Gauges
My Gauge bracket arrived yesterday. This is a bracket that will replace the center air vents (with Hazard button) an allow 3x52mm gauges to be installed. I have the need for a couple more gauges at the moment (Volts since i replaced the NEO for starters). Recommendation on others? FP, OP
Dyno Day
I'm hosting a Dyno Event this Saturday (29th) at ESP in Sterling, MA. I'll be putting mine back on just to get video of the Dyno. It will be no surprise what the Dyno numbers come back as, I might even try boosting 19-20psi :) |
| Photo Shoot - Monday, March 10, 2008I got a chance to have the photographer who runs Antegy perform a "photo shoot" on the VR4. His photography is amazing, I've used his services in the past. Over the few days/week I will slowly start introducing some of the pictures taken from the shoot to the site. As always, you can find many pictures in the Image Gallery. Hi-res versions on the VR4 are available upon request. Be sure to hit up the Antegy website!
